JWD = Nielson Ratings of Bummed out JWs
by tresdecu ini was thinking that if the nielson ratings can use a formula to estimate that 10 million people are watching lost based on a survey by x amount of people.
could the amout of newbies / still-in's / lurkers* that post & or surf here tell us that, say, 2,000,000 out of the 6 mil + dubs are just riding the coaster, and could care less.. *obviously we don't know how many lurk, but i'm sure 10s of thousands around the world.. just a thought.

I would love to get that info too. But my guess is that most lurkers who are still "in" wouldn't admit it publicly, for obvious reasons.

Is The WT A Religion Or a Business?
by Bangalore inmany claim that the watchtower organization is a business disguised as a religion?
is this the most accurate way to describe it?
or would you say it is a religious institution with some corporate or business strategies thrown in?.

Mrs. Fiorini
In my opinion, the WT is an authoritarian, high-control religion that uses a business model for operation, growth and expansion. I have learned that this is typical of many cults.

Why Do So Many DF'd End In Some Sort Of Trouble?
by african GB Member inmost ex-jw's df/da that i know end up living a dangerous life.
some get into drugs, prostitution, gangsterism, etc.
as a result they prove the jw theory that says "whoever leaves jehovah's organisation won't make it" right.. it's difficult for me to say this, but it seems like jw's are partly right on this one.. why do most ex-dubs end up in a predicament of some sort?

I can see a line of reasoning to your theory, but I can't buy it unless you have some facts to back it up. Many a theory based on a small set of anecdotal evidence withers with the introduction of actual documentation. Furthermore, that has not been my experience or what I have observed in others.
I think you may have gotten a bit of a bad reaction to your theory by some posters because the WT uses this idea as propaganda on its followers to try to keep them in. That, too, doesn't mean it isn't true. But without any documentation it remains an open question.
I am reminded also, that the WT claims that most "worldly" people live debached and morally degrading lifestyles. Now that I am no longer a JW and actually know some of those people, I see how completely untrue and self-serving that assertion is. The WT has a history of making outrageous claims that promote their agenda.
For the above reasons, I am very skeptical of the idea that leaving the WT has a causal relationship to people getting into some kind of trouble.

Are X-JWs Clique-ish?
by cameo-d inare x-jws a cult unto themselves?.
do you think x-jws still have a need to feel "exclusive"?.
do you think they are just "wired that way" or is it due to cult influence?.

For me, the only thing 'special' about Jehovah's Witnesses is that it is the cult that I had the misfortune to be born into.
Agreed.

My answer to all your questions is no. With a few exceptions, all the people in my life have never been JWs. And I love them all dearly. That having been said, sometimes I do feel that only another ex-JW will understand what that experience is really like. Which is probably a lot of the reason we are all here.
I welcome those who are here but have never been in themselves. People who come to this board have been affected by the WT one way or another. If not directly, then indirectly through people they love.

Topic for conversation for DF'd bol
by spoopy ini need some information to bring up in casual conversation with my bol.
he was df'd about six months ago, but he is still convinced it is the truth.
i need some scriptural accounts where the "governing body" resembles the pharisees.

You can ask him if there's anything he likes about being out now. Something he is now free to do, ask, say, etc.

Baby name suggestions?
by JimmyPage inboy or girl names, don't know for sure which as of yet.
preferably something with apostate or rock musician connotations.
i thought of "stevie ray" as in stevie ray vaughan and as a tribute to both steven hassan and ray franz but it sounds a bit too redneck for my taste.
